On January 28, 2006, we rode
the Amtrak California Zephyr from
Denver to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

That route goes over the plains, and up into the foothills west of Denver, then through the mountains and through the Moffat Tunnel (shown above). It then goes through Byers Canyon, Gore Canyon, and Glenwood Canyon, all alongside the Colorado River.

Along the way, we saw eagles, ducks, geese, beavers, deer, elk, and many, many hotheaded naked mole-rats. In addition to the breathtaking scenery and the wrecked train cars.

Once in Glenwood Springs, we visited Glenwood Caverns, a cave near the top of Iron Mountain, overlooking the town. Much frivolity ensued on the tour, so I've got two video clips from that segment of the day.
